It's Been Years Since This Journey Began

Wow... to think we started trying to have children back in 2011, it blows my mind how quickly time has flown.  Here we are almost at the 13th year anniversary of our family planning kick off.  I never dreamed we would still be without a child, never!

So many promises from the Lord were given, and it was a heavy backpack to carry.  So many times I wanted to put the backpack down and be done, much like pushing a little paper boat away from the shore of a pond, and just as I was about to let go the Lord would once again remind me of His promises, that He was a promises keeper, and to not give up.

I can remember asking Him to not make me like Sarah, who was 89 when she was pregnant, half joking, half serious.  Well ladies and gentlemen, here I am at 50 years old.  My womb is going through the change that is typical for women my age.  Less frequent and less productive, but this old girl is okay with the changes.

I want to take some time to remember the promises He gave so many years ago.  The first promise was in 2010.  I was out to breakfast with Stacy and we were sitting outside in Arvada.  It was a crisp morning and I can remember enjoying a good cup of coffee.  As Stacy was catching me up on her life, I remember the Lord almost audibly speak to my heart to save up for a baby fund.  He even stated the amount He wanted us to save.  Quizzically I asked Him, but we live in America, why do we need to save so much?  No answer.

Okay... I need to walk in obedience, even when it doesn't make sense.  I slowly started to save money for this baby fund and when I got laid off in 2013, I knew my income from my next role would be dramatically different so I put some from my severance and much from an inheritance into the fund and topped it off.  I then moved the funds into a CD where it could perpetually grow until we needed it.  A CD also protected it in case I got the urge to spend it on something else. Okay little nest egg, you are ready for when the baby comes.

More promises to share in the next post.
